Enduring Power of Guardianship

1. What is an enduring guardian?

An enduring guardian is a person appointed by an individual before I September 2015 under an enduring power of guardianship document. They act in accordance with the Guardianship and Administrative Powers Act 1986. An attorney appointed under this Act can seek advice from VCAT.

An enduring guardian has responsibilities to act in the best interest of the person who appointed them, encourage them to participate in their communities, protect them from abuse neglect and exploitation and advocate on their behalf.
