PEERS INSPIRING PEERS (DELIVERING THE LIFEMOVES PROGRAMME)
Name & Description of Peer Support Services Offered:
Peers Inspiring Peers is a not-for-profit organisation created to deliver structured peer support to those affected by acquired neurological conditions; for example, stroke, head injury or multiple sclerosis.
Peers Inspiring Peers delivers the LifeMoves programme. LifeMoves is an 8 week structured peer support programme in which group members meet once a week in a facilitated environment to discuss the issues and challenges they are facing and share strategies to deal with them. There is no fee to participate.
The rationale for the LifeMoves programme is that people who share similar experiences and challenges best facilitate healthy psychosocial adjustment –Peers Inspiring Peers. All LifeMoves facilitators have themselves been affected by an acquired neurological condition.
Venue Details
The LifeMoves programmes are held in community venues across Melbourne. All venues are close to public transport and have disabled access and disabled facilities.
