Chronic Illness Alliance - Peer Support Network

LifeMoves

Name & Description of Peer Support Services Offered:

LifeMoves provides structured peer support that empowers people with acquired neurological conditions.
It is a service supported by The Royal Melbourne Hospital and has been operating since 2002.

Many patients experience significant social and emotional consequences as a result of their brain injury: including clinical depression and anxiety, major changes in identity and relationships, loss of self esteem and diminished sense of autonomy. Given this, they need guidance, courage, strategies to cope and an increased sense of control and meaning to their lives.

The rationale for the LifeMoves program is that people who share similar experiences and challenges best facilitate healthy psychosocial adjustment.
